The Borgias
Work In Progress — Personal Project
I was inspired during a re-watch of Showtime’s The Borgias to rework the show’s opening titles in 3D. The historical drama follows a fictionalized account of the lives of Rodrigo Borgia and his family during his reign as Pope Alexander VI.
Below are some frames I created in Maya, Zbrush, C4D, and Photoshop as well as some behind-the-scenes progress shots.
I started by gathering and studying art from the Italian Renaissance — the aim was to project artwork onto the scene of the Papal Chair depicting strife or violence, heavily contrasted by religious visuals of holiness, illustrating the ironic duality of acquiring this highly coveted and powerful rank.
